Solar control window film is an energy conservation technology with the great environmental sustainability and business benefits
Property Location: Business Park in Hampshire
Problem: High heat build-up on inner pain of sealed glass units
Tested solution- Filmtek FTS-SS15 OSW External Film
“Inspirational Office Space” within the Hampshire business park has been suffering from heat build-up to the inner pain of glazing seal unit. With the glass acting like a radiator on sunny days, the property management and technical teams approached window film specialist Pentagon film take to propose a solution.
Complicated by a specialist glazing system, strict aesthetic code and a difficult access requirement, we decided to progress with the trial area to see and feel the result!
Utilizing data loggers it soon became very apparent how well the film was working in reducing the internal temperature as follows:
“We believe the comparison of information downloaded between the ‘no film control pane’ areas and the ‘with film’ trial areas, clearly indicated a significant reduction of the internal temperature of the glass, which was in excess of 40 degrees C on 14/15 days and exceeds 50 degree C twice. On the occasion of the control pain areas reaching 51 and 50.2 degree C, the corresponding temperature of the ‘with film’ trial pane areas were 34.4 and 34.7 degree C. The film therefore reduced the internal temperature of the glazing by approximately 16/17 degrees C.”
Solar control architectural film is a proven energy conservation Technology with great environmental sustainability and business benefit
Impressive trial test results with energy saving film
And to prove it, a Building Specific Energy Efficiency and Financial Analysis was carried out utilizing Capshot software that uses building information, regional weather information, estimated HVAC efficiency and utility gas and electric cost to calculate the energy saved with the film.
A report of the findings in terms of estimated saving was provided to support the film recommendation which also highlighted the additional benefits provided by Filmtek FT range of Architectural Solar Control Film.
But it’s more than just saving to be benefited from…

Productivity vs. Temperature
Solar Control Architectural Film can help reduce the solar energy and heat inside a building which can reduce cooling load and help keep occupants more comfortable and productive.
‘Effect of temperature on task performance in office environment’ shows how relative productivity changes with the temperature.
